Juilliard’s 118th commencement ceremony, celebrating the class of 2023, will take place on Friday, May 19, at 11am ET in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. The ceremony will include remarks by school leadership and a welcome address by Board of Trustees Vice-Chair and Drama alum Laura Linney, the conferral of degrees and honorary doctorates, and artistic interludes.

This year’s honorary doctorate recipients are orchestra industry leader Deborah Borda; educator, Martha Graham artistic director, and Juilliard alumna Janet Eilber; Brazilian composer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist Hermeto Pascoal; pioneering actor and Juilliard alumnus Wendell Pierce; and music director and conductor Xian Zhang. In-Person Attendance and Ticketing

We look forward to celebrating this year’s commencement with family and friends in attendance. Please be aware, however, that both the commencement ceremony and reception are ticketed events with limited capacity. Those who wish to attend commencement should reach out to their graduate for ticketing availability and information.

Each graduate will receive two tickets to distribute to invited guests to attend the in-person ceremony in Alice Tully Hall. Additionally, each graduate will receive three tickets to the on-campus livestream of the ceremony in the neighboring Peter Jay Sharp Theater. Following the ceremony, all ticketed guests and graduates are invited to come together for a post-commencement reception.

These tickets will be distributed via email to each graduate’s Juilliard email address in the days leading up to the ceremony, and graduates are responsible for sharing these tickets with their invited guests.

Health and Safety Protocols

For the latest COVID-19 safety guidelines, please refer to Lincoln Center protocols and Juilliard protocols. Note that these protocols are subject to change in accordance with any updates to city and state guidelines, rules and regulations, and other health and safety recommendations from our medical and public health advisors.

Hotels and Transportation

Family and friends attending commencement have many options for hotel accommodations throughout New York City as Lincoln Center is centrally located and easily accessible via public transit. If you prefer to stay near Lincoln Center, many travel websites, such as Hotels.com or Kayak.com, allow you to search for hotels by proximity to the campus.
